The kitchen often becomes the hub of any home, serving as much more than just a place to prepare food. It’s where families and friends gather to chat, laugh, and connect. The dining area is a place for family and friends to gather and celebrate, whether it’s over dinner at the end of a long day or for special occasions. This is why a lot of thought and care went into the kitchen and dining areas of the HGTV 2024 Dream Home.

The kitchen is a stunning yet tranquil room made up of wonderful layers of different shades of blue that bring to mind the rippling shades of water. Medium blue walls serve as a gentle backdrop to the many maple cabinets in a stronger blue. In the center of the room is a lighter shade of blue on the island, drawing the eye easily throughout the space. 

There’s no shortage of storage with all of the cabinets, the island, and a walk-in pantry that has its own window, counters, cabinets and shelves. In addition, the kitchen has a wealth of counter space in a quartzite material that brings to mind the white sandy beaches. The island has a lot of character with molding and separate legs that support the dine-in section, and four counter-height, solid oak, curved stools are perfect for those casual gatherings.

Wide plank, white oak, hardwood floors add to the light, airy feel of the room complemented by its soaring, sloped ceilings, multiple skylights that open for fresh air, and three large windows that offer a water view. Beneath the windows is a long counter ideal for meal prep, serving a buffet, and much more. The backsplash for the rest of the kitchen continues the coastal theme with white tiles in an elegant fish scale pattern.

Among the many appliances are an under-the-counter beverage refrigerator, a 36-inch-wide stainless-steel refrigerator, a white 7-quart bowl-lift stand mixer with redesigned premium touch points, and a matching variable speed blender. There’s also a 30-inch stainless steel wall oven/microwave combination that provides consistent heating and even cooking. A single-handle pull-down high-arc gooseneck kitchen faucet with Champagne Bronze finish includes touch technology that makes cleaning easier, as will the stainless built-in dishwasher.

Finally, the dining area is located between the kitchen and living room in this open-play layout, yet it has its own defined area, partly through a handmade navy and ivory flatweave cotton rug, and the three oversized dome pendants with whitewashed rattan shades that cast a beautiful glow over the table. There is a stylish wood dining table with a soft alabaster finish that includes four Parsons chairs slip-covered in a navy-blue linen fabric, and two coastal-style woven side chairs that add texture and charm.
