Glen Kernan Golf & Country Club Renovation

The golf course, clubhouse, and associated amenities were sold by Hodges Blvd. Development Group Inc. to Glen Kernan GCC LLC, led by Corner Lot CEO Andy Allen and COO George Leone and Hampton Golf COO Travis Norman. After purchasing the country club for nearly $4.8 million, the owner turned to Avant Construction Group and Bold Line Design LLC to create an interior renovation of the 22,568-square-foot clubhouse.

Located at northeast Kernan and Butler boulevards, Glen Kernan will remain a private golf club once the renovations are complete. Residents of the Glen Kerrnan community will have the opportunity for membership, while membership for those outside of the community will be by invitation only.

The clubhouse was originally built in 2001. The plan was made to keep the golf course closed while the renovations of the clubhouse were undertaken. Work was scheduled to last for approximately one year, with plans focused on a restaurant and bar, a golf pro shop, locker rooms, a cart barn, and administrative offices. In addition, the pickleball courts, tennis courts and fitness center are also being revamped.

The course redesign is being done by Hampton Golf, with the work being overseen by Jim Furyk, a PGA Tour professional and area resident. He is a longtime member of Glen Kernan and has won 17 times on the PGA tour, including the 2003 U.S. Open, and the 2010 FedEx Cup. Cameron Smith, winner of the 2023 Players and the Open Championship, is also an investor in Glen Kernan Golf & Country Club.

The goal of the purchase and renovation is to create a golf experience second to none in Jacksonville. The Glen Kernan Golf & Country Club is expected to open in January 2025.
