Fun Holiday Events in Jacksonville FL
As the new homes in Jacksonville Beach FL start putting up their holiday decorations, it’s not hard to start getting into the holiday spirit. Plus, with the cooler winds off the Atlantic, it even feels a bit more like Christmas, with the bonus of no ice and snow to wrestle with as in colder climates. As the year winds down and you’re ready to start celebrating, here are some of the great holiday events taking place in Jacksonville this month.
What better way to kick things off than with a bit of festive dinner theater. The Alhambra is the oldest operating dinner theater in the country, which means it has its own built-in charm. Plus, through December 24, they are presenting Bruce Allen Scudder’s Christmas Carole. Don’t miss out on this Jacksonville tradition.
From December 7-10, enjoy the Jacksonville Symphony and Symphony Chorus as they host the Holiday Pops. With plenty of favorite tunes, and even a guaranteed snowfall, this is sure to put a smile on everyone’s faces.
In addition to the Holiday Pops, there are plenty of musical performances to take in this season. Enjoy the famous Trans-Siberian Orchestra at the Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena on December 14, as well as one of the most beloved holiday concerts, Handel’s Messiah, performed by the Jacksonville Symphony and Chorus on December 16-17.
If it’s not Christmas without The Nutcracker, you’ve got three very different options from which to choose. December 8-9 is the 26th annual Community Nutcracker at the Florida Theatre. Then on December 15-17, the Jacksonville Symphony presents the First Coast Nutcracker Ballet, which is sure to dazzle and delight the whole family. Finally, if you want to see some of Russia’s great dancers perform, there is the Moscow Ballet’s Great Russian Nutcracker at the Florida Theatre on December 27.
If you are pining for a bit of winter sport fun, you’re in luck. WinterFEST at Adventure Landing in Jacksonville Beach includes the 130-foot-long Alpine Racer ice slide, an outdoor ice skating rink, s’more roasting, nightly snowfalls, a picturesque Alpine village, and so much more. WinterFEST runs through January.
Finally, if you don’t feel like hosting a big New Year’s Eve party in your new homes in Jacksonville Beach FL, you can head to Downtown Jacksonville on December 31st for a fantastic party along the St. Johns River. This family friendly celebration includes live music, food trucks, craft vendors, and much more, capped off with a stunning fireworks display to ring in the new year.
Happy Holidays!
