Glenn Layton Homes Featured in Sales and Marketing Ideas Magazine
In the five years since Glenn Layton Homes built the HGTV 2013 Smart Home, home technology has grown dramatically. What was once state-of-the-art and like something out of a futuristic fantasy is now de rigeur, yet also more intuitive, and more affordable. In the March edition of Sales and Marketing Ideas Magazine, one of the feature articles looks at how Glenn Layton Homes, a leading custom home builder in Northeast Florida, has made smart home technology as integral to their brand as their stunning coastal home designs.
As the article points out, when Glenn Layton Homes first built the Smart Home, much of the technology still required pre-wiring in the walls, using central controls to manage everything. It also cost at least $100,000. Today, there’s no pre-wiring needed, thanks to the Control4 home automation system, which is an IOS-based program. The home automation can be controlled by the home owners through their smartphones and tablets, even when they’re not at home. What once cost $100,000 is now done more efficiently and typically for less than $20,000.
The point of the home automation isn’t just convenience, it’s cost saving and conservation. For example, smart lights are one of the biggest areas of growth in home technology. The Phillips Hue System, one of the technology systems Glenn Layton uses in their homes, is able to take the information available from all of the hubs and create routines and automate timing, as well as adjust brightness and color for ideal atmospherics. While the basic bulb used in the system retails for $49, it lasts 20 years and uses just one tenth of the energy of a standard bulb.
From smart locks and home monitoring systems to energy-saving thermostats, an increasing number of smart home technologies can be voice controlled with simple commands, as well as the more common use of smartphones and tablets. You can tell your thermostat that you’re “leaving home” and it will adjust the temperature accordingly to save you money.
These are just a few of the areas where Glenn Layton Homes incorporates the latest in modern home automation and smart technology into the homes they build. As a dedicated custom home builder, they work hard to stay on top of all of the latest home technology developments to meet their clients’ needs, from automated window treatments to irrigation systems. With their focus on making smart home technology accessible and understandable for all of their clients, it’s no wonder they’ve become known as the Coastal, Custom, Connected home builder of Northeast Florida. Contact them today to see why they continue to make headlines.
