The HGTV 2024 Dream Home is where luxury meets comfort in the most exquisite way. It will come as no surprise that the primary bedroom is a coastal sanctuary of relaxation and style, designed to be a dream space for creating sweet dreams.
A door off the foyer opens to a vestibule that connects the main bedroom, main bathroom and main closet. This skillfully designed layout creates a private retreat away from the rest of the home.
As seen throughout the home, the main bedroom combines neutral tones with layers of blue, echoing the sand, sea, and sky surrounding Anastasia Island, where the home is situated. The walls, ceiling and trim are a pearly white paint with hints of gray, creating a clean, open, and airy feel to the room. It serves as the perfect backdrop for the drapery, rug, furniture, and accessories.
This peaceful main bedroom features a vaulted ceiling. Solar-powered, fresh-air skylights with built-in shades bring natural light and cooling breezes inside this tranquil space. Integrated rain sensors automatically close the skylights if inclement weather approaches, allowing you to enjoy the fresh breeze all night. There is also an app that does the thinking for you by automatically opening and closing the skylights and shades to improve air quality and temperature.
Three large windows looking out onto the terrace add to the bright, airy feel of the room. For evenings, a stunning 5-light dimmable flower-like chandelier adds a touch of organic style to this soothing sanctuary. The structure of the chandelier is wrapped in rope and finished in warm brass, invoking more nautical charm. The colors and textures are repeated in the twin bedside lamps.
Throughout the room you’ll find shades of navy on the bedside tables, in picture frames and even surrounding the almost eight-foot-wide white home theater screen, which replaces the typical black flat-screen TV. Lighter shades of blue are used in the curtains surrounding the windows, as well as in the bedspread and throw pillows throughout the room.
Complementing the blues and bringing attention to the bed is the large flatweave jute area rug. Bringing to mind the earthy colors of sand beneath your feet on the beach, the rug is hand woven and braided in India and is made from renewable fibers. It perfectly frames and draws the eye to the king-size bed, which features a rectangular panel headboard and is made of solid wood with a distressed finish that adds warmth and rustic charm.
To finish out the room, the white oak engineered wide-plank floor adds to the home’s coastal style. A gentle wire brush distressing reveals the graining of the wood, creating texture and a low-sheen luster.
All of the many features, from architectural to smarthome technology are elements that you’ll find in Glenn Layton Homes’ own designs.
